EXPANSION OF THE ORCHARD AND ESTABLISHMENT OF ABENAKYO FRUIT FACTORY-KAYUNGA DISTRICT, UGANDA The 500 acre orchard of 300 acres of mangoes and 200 acres of oranges planted between 2008 and 2012 is now fully established. On expansion, the orchard is projected to produce at least 6,928 tons of fruit in the year 2016 and up to 6,555 tons in the year 2020. The company is planning to establish a fruit factory to produce juice and pulp from own-grown fruits and from fruits bought from other farmers.

NATIONAL FRUIT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IN UGANDA-NATION WIDE Fruit can be processed into; dried products, juices, concentrates, jams, wine, syrups, and powders. Processing of fruits reduces post-harvest losses and wastages especially during bumper harvest, increases and conserves produce/product shelf-life, increases value of the more perishable produce, creates employment more especially for the youth, reduces produce bulkiness, stabilizes and increases income and market. The desired outcome of this project is to have increased volume of high quality fruit produce and products for local, regional, and international processing, marketing and consumption.

The Honey House-Mbale, Mt. Elgon National Park, Uganda Africa’s Choice has designed a commercial honey business Mt. Elgon National Park (MENP in Eastern Uganda. This project calls for the installation of six (6) approved 60 acre bee farms inside the Park each operating with 15 apiaries hosting 200 Langstroth beehives. With comprehensive certified training, our beekeepers will colonize and manage each hive to produce not less than 80kg upwards to 120kg of honey per annum. The Honey House will extract the honey and store in sanitized stainless steel barrels for filtering, bottling and labelling in the quantities required for buyers in Uganda, regional countries and Middle East.

SPINNING MILL (14,000 SPINDLES) LIRA DISTRICT, NORTHERN UGANDA. (LIRA SPINNING MILL SITE) Spinning in conversion of cotton lint into yarn (threads). Spinning is the foundation process for subsequent value additions i.e. Weaving, Knitting, Garments, Apparels, etc. The target raw material for the proposed spinning process will be cotton lint which is readily available in Uganda. Cotton lint in form of bales is fed to the blow room followed by various operations such as carding and combing. The final yarn of required specifications is then winded. Lira Spinning Mill site in Lira District is currently owned by a local investor. Within the site is a functioning ginnery that produces lint for use in the spinning process. The spinning complex is composed of buildings and structures that can be renovated to accommodate the proposed spinning mill and future expansion. Key plant and machinery required for manufacturing yarn of different counts include blow room machinery, metal detection system, spark diversion system, carding machines, card accessories, draw frame (Finisher & Breaker), speed frame, combers, ring frame, electrical infrastructure, yarn testing instruments, humidification and waste collection system and automatic cone winding machine. The finished product (yarn) has a ready market locally, regionally and internationally.

THE KAMPALA-JINJA EXPRESSWAY- KAMPALA, MUKONO, LUGAZI AND JINJA The Uganda National Roads Authority [UNRA] is seeking to partner with the private sector to Design, Build, Finance, Operate for and Transfer (after 30 years) a limited access 95km tolled expressway comprising: (i). 77km of the Kampala - Jinja main expressway of 4+4 lanes for the first 3km, 3+3 lanes for the next 17 km then 2+2 lanes for the remaining 57 km with a design speed up to 120kph; (ii). 18km Kampala Southern Bypass (Urban Expressway) of 2+2 lanes for the entire length with a design speeds up to 100kph. The Kampala Jinja Mainline and the Kampala Southern Bypass section collectively form the Kampala Jinja Expressway Public Private Partnership Project (KJE).

REHABILITATION & UPGRADE OF THE RAILWAY WAGON FERRY MV PAMBA-- PORT BELL PIER IN KAMPALA, THE JINJA PIER AND THE MWANZA, TANZANIA PIER The MV Pamba plies Lake Victoria routes between the Port Bell pier in Kampala, the Jinja pier and the Mwanza, Tanzania pier. Currently, there’s an immediate need to rehabilitate and upgrade the wagon ferry; bringing it into full compliance with current international marine regulations, and to enable it to be re-admitted into the marine class. Importantly, on top of having national strategic implications in regard to providing an alternative to the Northern Corridor port of Mombasa, the reality is that there has been an increase in transportation capacity on Southern Route (Central Corridor).

KAMPALA BUS RAPID TRANSIT (BRT)- GREATER KAMPALA METROPOLITAN AREA UGANDA (GKMA) Bus rapid Transit (BRT) is a high quality mass public transport system based on buses using existing roads. BRT can be fast, reliable, frequent and comfortable; it has the characteristics of an urban railway service at a fraction of the cost.

KAMPALA CABLE CAR PROJECT- KAMPALA Kampala Capital City Authority is proposing the introduction of an Urban Cable Car (Ropeway Vehicle) system. This technology is envisioned to achieve high order objectives such as; reduction in pollution (air and noise), traffic decongestion, improvement in transit connectivity, beautification of the urban environments, and development of a reliable and highly profitable transportation means.

KAMALENGE GOLD MINING PROJECT- KASSANDA, MUBENDE, UGANDA The Kamalenge gold mining project is owned by AUC Mining (U) Ltd and is a mining and exploration project covering 6 square kilometres; with a mining lease and 1400 square kilometres under exploration licenses. Thus far, 4 magnetic lineaments have been defined.

RORAIMA GOLD EXPLORATION & MINING PROJECTS IN EASTERN UGANDA-- BUSIA, UGANDA The project areas are three gold exploration and development targets. Busia has been explored the most. Drilling has taken place in all proper- ties - as well as detailed geochemistry, geophysics, pitting, and trenching. Based on assessment of independent consultants, a resource of 600,000 to 800,000 ounces of gold is estimated for Busia to the 150m depth.

CONSTRUCTION OF A 1300KM TRANSNATIONAL CRUDE OIL EXPORT PIPELINE TO THE EAST COST SOUTH OF UGANDA The planned export pipeline will provide an alternative commercialization of oil and gas resources in the region and generate revenue for other development initiatives such as infrastructure development, agriculture.

DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATION OF CANOPY WALK IN KIBALE NATIONAL PARK-- SEBITOLE Mandated to manage wildlife protected areas that include all the nation- al parks and wildlife reserves in Uganda, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) also takes management responsibility for developing tourism within the protected areas. As such, UWA has identified the need for development of a canopy walk tourism product in the protected areas. The canopy walk is part of the strategy to diversify product offering and enrich visitor experiences in Uganda. Ultimately, the canopy tourism experience is expected to create new sources of income generation for the organization, provide visitors with a new experience, and also allow for the exploration and better understanding of the forest canopy.

BUNYONYI HOLDINGS COMPANY LIMITED (BHCL) – VACATIONAL HOMES RESORT KABALE TOWN IN SOUTH WESTERN UGANDA Bunyonyi Holdings Company Limited (BHCL) is a company that was established in 1993 to provide services in the tourism sector. The company would like to set up 100 room tourist luxury leisure facility under the name of VACATION HOMES RESORT on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi near Kabale Town in south western Uganda. The rooms will consist of: • 30 executive tourist tents • 26 cottages and • 44 rooms in the main block This is the first luxury leisure facility of its kind in western Uganda. This luxury resort will form a first phase of BHCLs safari leisure circuit to be established in East Africa. In preparation for this, the promoters have decided to prepare a full-fledged business plan to enable them assess the potential returns and ability to service the proposed loan(s). All the necessary investigations were carried out using the following methods to obtain and analyse relevant information:

DEVELOPMENT OF IT/BPO PARK LUNYO- ENTEBBE UGANDA The Government of Uganda has adopted an ICT-led Socio-economic Policy for accelerated development with a focus on ICT Entrepreneurship Development, rejuvenation of the private sector and wealth creation in the National Development Plan II 2015/16 – 2019/20. In this regard 17 (seventeen) acres of land are available for the development of an Information Technology (IT) – Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Park that will act as a catalyst from raw material based exports to a knowledge-based economy. The IT/BPO Park will facilitate the following; 1) Creation of jobs and transfer of knowledge form multi-nationals to the local entrepreneurs in IT business. The park will be designated as a special economic zone which will attract multi-national companies to set up operations in Uganda that in turn create direct and indirect employment opportunities for Ugandans and build capacity of Uganda human resource as well. 2) Stimulation of start-ups and growth of technologically intensive, knowledge-based business. 3) Attract multinational companies that will mentor and offer internships to start-ups. Other support institutions like financial, research and educational institutions. 4) Provide opportunities for linking research and industrial communities. The park will be zoned to accommodate and attract all support functions to IT/BPO companies. Such support functions will create more employment opportunities. 5) Increase in Government revenue generation through land lease, sale of land and taxes from the economic activity generated by the park both directly and indirectly. 6) Incubation base for private sector ventures; as training base and centre of excellence for BPO/ITES skills transfer. The IT/BPO park will attract global industry big players hence foster and support new and emerging technologies, as well as be a catalyst for incubating dynamic new businesses linking them to research, industrial and educational institutions and ultimately the targeted markets and consumers.

TRANS AFRICAN CLEAN ENERGY AND AGRICULTURE SUPPLY PERI- URBAN AND RURAL AREAS OF UGANDA TACEAS has developed an on-demand sales force and distribution structure to empower new companies offering products and services in renewable energy, affordable agricultural finance and markets to individuals at the bottom of the pyramid, grow fast, save time and money. Think of it as an Uber or Amazon web services (AWS) for sales. This is what we call “sales as a service.”

MICROPAY(U)LTD--KAMPALA, UGANDA Micropay (u) ltd is an e-payment platform independent of any telecommunications network with which clients may send / receive money and carry out financial transactions such as buy airtime of all telecoms, or pay utility bills like power, water & pay tv using an application installed on their smart phone, or unstructured supplementary service data (ussd) code for non-smart phone users.

ENERGY FOR RURAL TRANSFORMATION PROJECT III – HEALTH COMPONENT-- NATIONWIDE The ERT Project III will be implemented in the Districts of Alebtong, Buhweju, Buvuma, Hoima, Kaliro, Kamuli, Kapchorwa, Kasese, Kiboga, Kisoro, Kween, Kyankwanzi, Lira, Manafwa, Nakasongola, Namayingo, Otuke, Rubirizi, Busia, Butaleja, Gomba, Lwengo and Namutumba. The District were selected on the basis of the low rural electrification rate and excluded Districts that already benefited from ERT I & II and those are earmarked to benefit from the United Nations Foundation Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiatives.
